Beacon in the Dark

The Umhlanga Lighthouse.
Built in 1954, for a whopping R23 838, has been standing tall and proud as one of the world's most iconic lighthouses.
When I first arrived in Umhlanga almost a month ago, I couldn't wait to try and capture this lighthouse through my lens. It was under renovation until recently and had scaffolding all around which has subsequently been removed.
Tonight I decided to venture down to the beach during low tide to take a few photos.
Lighthouses have been used to guide ships at sea, but also to warn for dangerous objects in the water as well as coastlines.
Tonight however, the lighthouse called out to me to come and take a closer look.
Initially I just went down to look at the ocean, and whilst looking out over Umhlanga, I saw that the lighthouse kept shining its light so brightly against the cloudy night sky, and the scene evoked such an incredible urge in me to try and capture its beauty.
I took the bait...
This is what I got...
I hope that you like it.
I am so blessed to be living in such an incredibly beautiful part of South Africa...
I am Proudly South African.
