Electric Curtain

What an unbelievable display of lightning over Umhlanga Rocks this evening.

This is one of my favourite lightning photos that have ever taken. I am in awe of the display of lightning tonight...

I have never witnessed a lightning storm with such clear and calm weather and skies.

There was barely a breeze, and there was barely a drop of rain. The skies were crystal clear for kilometres...

I was on my way home when I noticed a flash from behind me. For a second I thought I had gotten a speeding ticket which was odd as I was sure I wasn't speeding. I then realised that there was a storm coming (although no thunderstorms had been forecasted for Durban).

I rushed down to Bronze Beach. I went right onto the beach. The salty ocean lapping softly up onto the shore as the lightning was tearing through the clear sky. It was incredible.

I started getting a little nervous as the strikes got closer, so I decided to head for cover before I carried on taking photos.

This is the first photo I managed to capture before heading for cover... I hope that you like it.

This photo is a composite image created from some of the images that I captured, which have then been overlayed to create single image, showcasing the strikes that I managed to capture.

South Africa has the most incredible beauty, and her storms are amazing.
