Fire at First Light

Insomnia called my name again last night so I went down to the beach in Umhlanga Rocks to take a photo of the sunrise.

I've had my eye on a tree that washed on to the beach during the April Floods as I thought it may make for an interesting photo, so this morning I decided to give it a go.

It was quite chilly, with the kind of wind that bites at you through your clothes. The ocean seemed calm as the waves slowly came up to meet me. The sky had been set on fire by the approaching sun, and as the sun started edging towards the horizon, the colours danced through the sky which caused beautiful reflections on the surf.

Every sunrise offers something different and special and I am so grateful to have witnessed this morning's glorious sunrise. I hope that you like the photo.

South African sunrises are incredible all year round, and sometimes we just need to take a moment to appreciate something so special. Beauty is everywhere, keep looking for it.
