Moonlit Wreck

About last night.
I was driving back from a boxing tournament in Margate, and my GPS rerouted me off the highway and past Wilsons's Wharf in Durban.
The moon had just begun to rise over the harbour, and I knew I had to stop to take a photo.

It was around 22:15, and to my surprise, there were so many people out fishing late at night. There were also so many social gatherings and so many people out and about.
I walked out to the very edge and came across this shipwreck up against the rocks. I had heard before of this shipwreck but couldn't find it previously, and this felt like synchronicity. The reroute, the moon calling me out to the water, and now the shipwreck which I had previously searched for unsuccessfully; it all just happened as if it was meant to be.

The moon and Durban's city lights glimmered over the water. The vessle rested against the rocks peacefully. It's tragic that this yacht had foundered, but in its wreck, under the moonlight, and swamped in the shimmering waters, it was a specimen of beauty and wonderment Sometimes, even a wreck can be beautiful. I suppose it's all a matter or perspective.

I managed to take this photo. I hope that you like it.

This photo is comprised of two separate images respectively, one for the foreground and one for the moon. The moon has been superimposed onto the foreground image to show you what I saw, as I saw it. Note, this is a photo of the full moon seen earlier this week and not the waning moon from last night. I decided to use some artistic license when it came to the moon itself.

South Africa always leaves me breathless in her beauty. Look for the beauty, it's there...

I am Proudly South African.
