A fiery sunrise over Umhlanga this morning.

This morning I had planned on having a lazy start to the day. It was still dark just after 6am when I peeped out the windows. I saw the clouds started glowing a dark and deep red. I knew that we were going to be treated to a spectacular sunrise, so I shot down to Bronze Beach in Umhlanga Rocks to take a few photos.

When I got there, I found a piece of driftwood. A cool salty breeze tickled my face as I set my camera up. The sky just above the horizon was burning a bright red, and the blue in the sky was slowly coming out, as the sun edged closer to the horizon.

The burning blaze started spreading across the sky like wildfire. I moved closer to the ocean and it looked like the shore had been set alight by the same fire. Even the ocean had fire dripping down from the sky, and flowing up onto the sand.

The fire only lasted a few minutes, as some clouds moved in over the horizon and in front of the sun. I turned to look up at the Umhlanga skyline, and saw soft pink clouds float above the buildings. In the distance, the Umhlanga Lighthouse pierced the horizon with its pulsing light.

What an incredible start to the day.

I am constantly in awe of the incredible beauty of South Africa. We truly are so lucky to have such a beautiful country. Keep looking for the beauty. It's there...

I am Proudly South African.
