Supermoon Tide

Tonight is the final Supermoon for 2023. I simply had to take a photo.

The previous two Supermoons, I shot over the Umhlanga skyline, then the Durban CBD, so I decided to do something more simple, calm, and quiet this time.

On a recent walk on the beach up towards the Lagoon in Umhlanga Rocks, I found a few interesting rocks and thought I'd use that as the foreground.

I took a slow walk up to the spot along the beach this afternoon. The cool waves washing over my legs, as striking turquoise waves curled as they broke to my right. The vast ocean decorated with ships waiting to enter the harbour.

I came across a piece of driftwood and thought I'd take a quick photo, and then went on to another spot and waited for the moon.

The moon appeared like a burning ember just above the blue ocean. As the moon rose, it got brighter and brighter, and eventually, you could see a warm path to the moon shining over the blue ocean.

I decided to share two photos. The first is the last photo that I took of the moon shining brightly over the ocean. The second is of the driftwood with Umhlanga in the background. I hope that you like them.

The moon photo is comprised of two separate images, one for the foreground and one for the moon.

The moon has been superimposed onto the foreground image to show you what I saw, as I saw it.

South Africa always leaves me breathless from her beauty. Look for the beauty, it's there...

I am Proudly South African.
