The City I Carry With Me - 3

Cape Town. The Mother City...

I was so lucky to have been able to go down to CT for an afternoon. I only had a few hours, so I decided to take a couple of quick photos before I had to head back to Durban.

First, I went to Bloubergstrand to see the iconic view that looks out over Table Mountain.

It was midday and the sunlight was very harsh. I found some seagulls chilling on the side of the rocks next to a small pool. Every time a wave would get closer, they would all jump up and fly around and switch places with each other. It looked like they were playing a game of sorts.

I managed to capture their reflections in the pool.  A tricky photo with very hard light.

Standing in front of the Atlantic Ocean, I could feel the cold of the water almost radiating against my skin and face, with the heat of the sun on my back.  It almost felt like I was standing in front of an open fridge.  I'm definitely not used to such a cold ocean as the Indian Ocean in Durban is far warmer.

Then, a friend drove me to the side of Lions Head.  The view overlooking the city, with Table Mountain and Devils Peak to the right is absolutely breathtaking.  A cool and calming breeze flowed up the side of the mountain.

Below, the city was bustling with people making their way home.  I wondered how many people were down there, all with their own lives doing whatever they need to do.  I couldn't fathom how many people there may be down there. 

Regardless, what a spectacular view.  Truly awesome.   

I need to spend more time in the Cape and take more photos...

I actually can not believe how magnificent the beauty of our country is, and at every turn.

It leaves me breathless from the beauty...
