Umhlanga Revealed

I decided to enjoy a nice peaceful Sunday afternoon stroll on the beach. I went down to Bronze Beach and walked down towards Umhlanga's main beach.

There's this large set of rocks that's close to the shoreline, and surrounded by sand, that people normally walk around to continue their walks down or up the beach, but when I got there, I had found that all the sand had been washed away and exposed massive rocks. It also makes the walk quite tricky as all the exposed rocks are quite slippery.

I have been living down in Umhlanga Rocks for about 5 and a half years now, and I've never seen these specific rocks exposed before, so I thought I'd head down to try and take a few photos.

The sunrise was so serene and beautiful. The air was quite hazy, and it made everything look a little magical and soft. There was this glow in the air, and the salty air was still. It felt like the air itself was waiting for the day to start...

These rocks definitely give new meaning to the name, Umhlanga Rocks.

Umhlanga means "Place of reeds", and then there's the "rocks" part, probably because of all these beautiful rocks...

I took a few photos, some of the buildings and their reflections between the newly exposed rocks, and a couple of the beautiful sunrise colours over the ocean.
